Two Shows, One Wild Weekend: Cadillac Rumble’s August 7 & 8 Recap

Last weekend was a busy one for Cadillac Rumble, with two shows, two very different crowds, a whole lot of rock 'n' roll, and one very fast teardown!

Friday, August 7 - The Keystorm Pub, Brockville, ON

Friday night we returned to one of our favourite drinking spots and places to play, The Keystorm Pub in downtown Brockville.

With Brockville's annual RibFest happening the same weekend, we weren't really sure what kind of night we were going to have. We figured it might be a little quieter than usual.

Well, Brockville proved us wrong.

Our first set had the familiar Keystorm vibe. People came in for a late dinner or some apps, grabbed a few drinks, kicked back and enjoyed some rock 'n' roll.

Then it was time for Set 2.

Apparently, that's when the party animals decided to show up.

People started streaming through the doors, some looking to party, some looking to kick back after RibFest, and we even ended up with a bunch of people coming in for a wedding afterparty.

We could feel the energy in the room changing, so we turned it up. Literally.

By Set 3, the place had turned into a party. People were up dancing, singing along and keeping us on our toes. We even started taking a few requests.

Yes, Cadillac Rumble occasionally takes requests!

It turned into one of those nights where the crowd feeds the band and the band feeds the crowd right back. Exactly the kind of night we love at The Keystorm.

Thanks to everyone who came through the doors and spent part of their Friday night with us.

Saturday, August 8 - Devils on Wheels Bike & Car Show, Gatineau, QC

Saturday morning, it was time to load everything back up and head across the river to Gatineau for the annual Devils on Wheels Bike & Car Show.

We always have a great time hanging out with the Devils on Wheels crew, and this year was no different.

The band Contact kicked things off with a great set of metal and rock tunes before we did a quick stage changeover and brought some Cadillac Rumble rock 'n' roll and rockabilly to the afternoon.

We also had a special guest join us.

We pulled Nick from The Midnight Boppers out of Montreal up to play Baby Let's Play House with us. Any chance we get to throw another rockabilly player into the mix, we're probably going to take it!

Then Mother Nature decided she wanted a turn.

We could see the storm coming, and luckily we were performing underneath our big pop-up tent. We managed to get our set in, but once it became obvious the heavy rain was headed our way, Cadillac Rumble suddenly became the world's fastest teardown crew.

  • Gear went into the trailer.
  • Gear went into the car.
  • Gear went into the hall lobby.
  • Basically, if it was dry, we put something there.

And somehow, after all the scrambling, everything survived the downpour!

A huge thanks to Pascal, Mario and all the gang from the Devils on Wheels Car Club for having us back. It's always a pleasure spending an afternoon with you guys.

Next Stop: Spencerville

No rest for the wicked. This coming Saturday, August 15, Cadillac Rumble heads to SpencerCity Bar & Grill in Spencerville, Ontario.

We're really looking forward to this one. They've got a killer patio, great-looking food and drinks, and we'll be bringing a couple of sets loaded with some of our favourite rock 'n' roll and rockabilly cuts.

Come by, grab some food and a cold drink, hang out on the patio and spend your Saturday night with Cadillac Rumble.

And as always, thanks to everyone who continues to support our little rock 'n' roll band. Whether you're coming to a show, following us online, sharing a post, telling a friend, or just stopping by to say hello, we appreciate it more than you know.

See you somewhere down the road.
